In December 2015, Miriam joined a group of four other artists to embark on a large-scale mural project that would focus on global health and community involvement in the remote village of Las Brisas, Guatemala.  Some of the murals served as educational tools..  The painted walls were paired with health classes in the village, which are part of an ongoing project.  And in this case, art was used as an additional means of communication in an area with a low literacy rate.  With the help of many children and some adults from Las Brisas and the surrounding area, the artists were able to complete a total of seven murals during their time there.  In addition to the health-focused designs, some murals were also painted in order to give back to the community for hosting the artists.  These were more decorative and also served to revamp the local school.  The artists also worked with children who live at the neighboring school, Casa Guatemala, to design and paint the walls of their boarding rooms for boys and girls.
